Jayden Fossett, a member of the Brian Currie team, has achieved an outstanding second place finish in the 2026 IMI Skills Competition Heavy Vehicle Technology National Final.
The competition brought together some of the UK’s most talented heavy vehicle apprentices, where finalists put their technical knowledge, practical ability and problem-solving skills to the test.
Having secured his place through the National Qualifiers earlier this year, Jayden progressed to the national final, competing against talented apprentices from across the country.
Throughout the day, competitors completed a series of challenging assessments covering vehicle inspection, mechanical repair, chassis and transmission diagnosis, engine fault diagnosis and electrical fault finding. The tasks tested their technical expertise, attention to detail and ability to perform under pressure.
Following an impressive display of technical skill, professionalism and determination, Jayden secured second place nationally, marking a fantastic achievement in his developing career.
Jayden’s success is particularly significant as he qualified earlier this year and is now a fully qualified technician. To follow that achievement by reaching the national final and securing a podium position is an incredible accomplishment, highlighting the hard work, dedication and technical ability he has developed throughout his training.
For Brian Currie, Jayden’s achievement is a fantastic reflection of the talent within the business and the importance of investing in the next generation of heavy vehicle technicians.
The 2026 competition marked the first IMI Skills Competition Heavy Vehicle Technology National Final, with 200 apprentices taking part in the wider competition.
DAF Trucks UK achieved an impressive clean sweep of the podium, with all three places going to DAF apprentices. Monty Gambrell of Motus Commercials took first place, Jayden secured second, and Theo Lanham of Adams Morey Ltd. finished third.
