Key responsibilities:

• Team Leadership & Organisation – Plan and allocate workloads for night shift technicians, monitor productivity, and ensure all tasks are completed within agreed timeframes and to acceptable standard.
• Workshop Management – Oversee repair and servicing of commercial vehicles and trailers, ensuring work meets customer requirements, DVSA, safety, and company standards
• Health & Safety – Promote a safe working environment, ensure compliance with H&S policies, risk assessments, and method statements, and address any safety issues immediately
• Technical Oversight – Provide technical guidance, assist with complex faults, and ensure all repairs, servicing, and inspections are carried out to high standards
• Quality Control – Monitor the quality of workmanship, ensure accurate completion of job cards, maintenance records, and compliance with legal requirements
• Communication – Liaise with other’s, depot managers, and shift members to coordinate operations and resolve issues
• Idle Time & Productivity Control – Manage downtime, optimise workflow, and maintain efficient use of resources

What we are looking for:

• Strong understanding of HGV systems, mechanical and electrical repairs, and MOT/DVSA standards Level 3 HGV essential
• Proven ability to lead and motivate a night shift team, with a calm approach to managing a busy workshop
• Previous HGV workshop foreman or senior technician role
• HGV Class 1 licence advantageous
• Knowledge of legal, safety, and company procedures; ability to maintain accurate records
• Ability to work autonomously with minimal supervision during night shifts
• Commitment to high-quality workmanship and safety culture

Working hours:

• Tuesday to Friday – No Bank holidays
• 17:30 to 06:00
